The books in this series of Little Books from Laurel Glen are among my favorite. They're compact and efficient and beautifully illustrated with gorgeous photographs that make your mouth water. Nothing says "summer's here" like a barbecue. The recipes have been tested and are designed to keep things simple with the minimum preparation time. When one thinks of an American barbecue, one immediately thinks of hot dogs and hamburgers. How dull. There are zillions of much healthier and much more appetizing ideas, and in this book alone, there are 200 recipes to choose from. Everything from Tofu Kebabs with Miso Pesto, Involtini of Swordfish, Satay Chicken, and Salmon and Shrimp Kebabs on skewers, to the ubiquitous burgers (Tuna burgers with herbed mayonnaise, Beef and Mozzarella burgers, Vegetarian burgers with cilantro garlic cream) and entree meals. Just when I thought I'd be disappointed at not seeing ribs, I discovered Chili Pork Ribs and Chinese-style barbecue Spareribs. I also found Margarita Chicken which sounds delicious. With dishes like Lobster, Duck, Stuffed Eggplant, Roast Lamb, Chicken Wings, and Squid, you're spoiled for choice and entertaining barbecue-style will not be boring. Side dishes include Grilled Mangoes, Asian Rice Salad, and Grilled Asparagus. Desserts are yummy too. Any number of menus can be put together using this book.
