I love Billy Crystal, I really do. I've read his other book 700 Sundays, seen many of his movies and laughed and cried at his brilliance. I didn't care for the crass first couple of chapters (I really don't care to know about one's personal hygiene, genitals, sex life, bathroom habits, etc.), but he departs quickly and goes on to captivate his readers (he certainly captivated me) with his delightful wit, talent and amazing achievements. He seems to have done it all, and very well. He appears to be a magnanimous individual who treasures his friends and family. His love of family is touching, and I was thrilled to hear he's still married to his first and only wife, Janice. His books is essentially about aging and how he's coping (or not), and when he wrote it, he was turning 65. He covers many milestone birthdays, family events, friends, colleagues, movies he's starred in or directed or produced or wrote, and truly is one talented man. I adore his quick wit and professionalism, and his love of baseball and (the late) Muhammad Ali, his good friend, I found moving. I laughed, smiled and even cringed at times, but I couldn't put his book down.
Conclusion - A MUST if you're a Billy Crystal fan. Beauty in his writing and touching sentiments.
