Eating the Greek Way - More Than 100 Fresh and Delicious Recipes from Some of the Healthiest People in the World
by Fedon Alexander Lindberg, M.D.
Crown Potter/Publishing
ISBN 0-307-38110-1
Published June 2007 - Hardcover - 175 pages - $25.00

This is the second cookbook by a doctor that I have reviewed.  This doctor, Fedon Alexander Lindberg, specializes in internal medicine and endocrine disorders and runs four clinics in Norway.  Born in Greece, Dr. Lindberg's food, according to the inside cover flap, "will help you lose weight and improve your health" and is based on three meals a day with two snacks.  These recipes are geared towards you living a healthy life and to "regain control of what you eat", particularly with regards to weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, and many other aspects.  If you want to improve your health and eat healthily, read the good doctor's words about blood sugar, stress carbs, Glycemic Index, proteins, fats, exercise, and his list of "What can I eat?"  The contents feature: Food, Health, and Weight; Sample Weekly Menus; Ingredients for Good Health; In the Kitchen; Soups, Salads and Dressings; Fish and Shellfish; Poultry; Meat; Vegetables; Legumes; Grains, and Desserts.  Greek food has a wide variety of wholesome ingredients, and these recipes appelaed to me for that reason: Chicken, Walnut, and Red Bean Salad; Avocado, Zucchini, and Pasta Salad; Spanish Chicken Casserole with Green Lentils; Roast Lamb with Herbs and Garlic, and Zucchini Gratin.  I found "Spice it Up" particularly useful as it's handy to know what goes with which food - great for changing your old routines.  From the Greeks we get the "everything in moderation" quote, which is my philosophy in life.  Illustrated. Nutritional guides.
Conclusion - We all need to make drastic adjustments to our bad eating habits, and this is a great way to go.  A great and invaluable book.
