Nigella Express - 130 Recipes for Good Food, Fast
by Nigella Lawson
Hyperion
ISBN 1-4013-2243-4
Published November 2007 - Hardcover - 390 pages - $35.00

I've only reviewed one other Nigella Lawson book (How To Eat), so I'm not too familiar with her style.  One thing I do remember is her extraordinary vocabulary.  Very British and very good.  Ms. Lawson, like most of us, realizes the importance of being able to put forth a wholesome meal in record time.  With a zillion things to do each day, I have to ask why it is that cooking always takes a backseat?  If we didn't eat (to stay alive and function), we'd not accomplish a fraction of the zillion things we do.  My advice?  Slow down, prioritize, and enjoy the show, people.  "The Domestic Goddess", as Ms. Lawson is also known, presents the following in this book: Everyday Easy; Workday Winners; Retro Rapido; Get Up and Go; Quick Quick Slow; Against the Clock; Instant Calmer; Razzle Dazzle; Speedy Gonzales; On the Run; Hey Presto; Holiday Snaps, and Storecupboard SOS.  Phew!  Just reading through this list makes me tired.  So, with a stocked cupboard and fridge, I'd like to try these recipes on frazzled days: Salmon Escalopes with Watercress, Sugar Snaps, and Avocado; Red Shrimp and Mango Curry; Potato and Mushroom Gratin; Smoked Trout Pâté; Maple Chicken 'n' Ribs; Tarte Fine aux Pommes (never thought this could be so easy); Quick Chili (I also serve mine on rice); Mini Meat Loaves (a great idea); Budino di Cioccolato (sounds sublime), and Nutella Pancakes.  Most recipes in this book are do-able, and as an added culinary bonus, it'll seem as though you put more than your back out preparing them.  Don't forget to shop wisely.  A well-stocked pantry is half the battle won.  You don't have to eat poorly if you just put a little thought and effort into eating well, without much fuss.
Beautifully illustrated.  No nutritional guides. Visit Ms. Lawson at her website.
Conclusion - A treasure of a cookbook.
