We all grow up believing we'll someday find our true love, marry, and settle down forever and ever.  Some lucky few do, but many don't.  This book by TV personality and former First Lady of New York, Donna Hanover, is an account of her divorce after 18 years of marriage and 30 years since her romance with Ed Oster, and how they later met up, fell in love all over again and got married.  Aaaah.  The book wouldn't be as interesting as it is if it hadn't contained stories of many other people who reconnected with their first or past loves.  One incredible tale is how Carol Channing met her beau after 70 years, and married in their eighties!  There are many similar stories like Suzanne Pleshette and Tom Poston reconnecting and marrying after both of their spouses passed away.  This book is not only about celebrities rediscovering love, it's about everyday people like you and me.  These things can and do happen, so after reading this, one regains a sense of hopefulness.  She also discusses the potential disaster that could happen when meeting someone from your past and the effects a new romance could have on your children.  Ms. Hanover's story is one many of us hold in our own hearts - will the "right" guy ever come along?  Personally, I have my doubts but I still have a flicker of a flame of hope.  This book is about expecting the unexpected and listening to your heart; how we form our opinions of what love is during our early childhood, and in these cases, how important our first loves are.  This phenomenon is happening to people all across the country.  Reuniting with someone who is familiar with your youth makes it easy to feel accepted for who you are.  There are many heart-warming stories told here that will inspire you and keep you on the right track.  However, I wouldn't care to meet up with my first love, thank you.  Or anyone else I thought I was in love with.
Conclusion - A fabulously encouraging and uplifting read.
