The Caribbean - National Geographic Traveler
by Nick Hanna & Emma Stanford
National Geographic
ISBN 0-7922-7434-2
Published September 2007 - Softcover - 400 pages - $27.95

The "Caribbean" consists of, among other countries, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, the Windward Islands, and Barbados.  I've always hankered after a trip to a few of these places.  I've yet to get there, but they're still in my dreams.  This very useful and informative book will fill you in as far as everything you'll need to know about these exotic places before you depart.  Each destination offers a corresponding map (great for orientating yourself), a little history, information on cities worth considering visiting, museums, walks, places of interest, art, water trips, and so much more.  You can choose whether to go to a U.S. island, a French island, a British island, or a Dutch island.  St. Kitts, Martinique, Montserrat, Aruba, Curaçao, St. Croix, the Cayman Islands, Grenada, or any other, are just some of the more familiar places, and there is so much to see and do.  And the enticing seaside homes, villages, and settlements are hard to resist, and make wonderfully picturesque photographs.  There is a comprehensive list of accommodations and a helpful shopping directory as well.  Beautifully illustrated throughout.
Conclusion - Extremely useful and infinitely helpful.
